Monica Every is a suspect in the murder of 48-year-old grandmother Charlene Jones. 

Investigators have arrested two women in the case, including a suspect suspected of solicitation to do murder, six weeks after 48-year-old grandmother Charlene Jones was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Gatehouse Apartments in Metairie, according to arrest records.

On January 27, Jones was discovered shot to death in a vehicle in the parking lot. According to Capt. Jason Rivarde, a spokesperson for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, was shot alone inside a car in the 300 block of Gatehouse Drive at 5 a.m. Jones was declared dead on the spot.

Charlene Jones Murder Suspect: Who Is Monica Every? Arrest Charges Explored

Investigators say the two women, Monica Every and Deja Walls have been arrested as they are responsible for the murder of Charlene Jones.

Monica Every, 49, of LaPlace, was charged with second-degree murder and solicitation to commit murder on Wednesday. According to Capt. Jason Rivarde of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Deja Walls, 26, of New Orleans, has also been charged with second-degree murder in the case.

The motivation for the homicide, though, has eluded police. Monica Every was arrested on Thursday and was being held in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna, where her son, Joshua Every, 29, is awaiting trial for first-degree murder in the deadly armed robbery of a Kenner Raising Cane’s restaurant in 2016.
