What Happened To Ramon Nieves? Ohio Man Charged For Shooting Case In Athens County The Talks Today

Ramon Nieves used to go to Ohio University. He is one of the people accused of shooting Alex Andrews.

An Athens County Grand Jury charged Ramon Nieves, 26, of Akron, a former student at Ohio University, with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and vandalism, a fifth-degree felony, on July 30, 2020. Nieves is a defendant in a 2017 gunshot case and was a student at Ohio University.

Nieves is a defendant in a shooting case, so the accusations are related to that case. Nieves was the main suspect in the shooting on January 19, 2017, that left Alex Andrews, the owner of Thunder Bunny Tattoo Parlor, blind and badly hurt.

Who Is Ohio’s Ramon Nieves?

Nieves went to Ohio University before, but she didn’t finish her degree there. Officials say that he later lived in Columbus, Ohio, and Brooklyn, New York. He is now being looked for outside of Cambridge, Ohio.

Reports say that Nieves was taken into custody on October 2 in Columbus with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service and the Athens Police Department. The Messenger says that on January 19, 2017, Andrews was shot through the window of his kitchen.

Andrews was hurt when birdshot and buckshot were fired from a shotgun into his face, neck, chest, and stomach. After the accident, Andrews had to have two operations, and his left eye is now almost completely blind.

Nieves is the main suspect in a shooting that happened on January 19, 2017, and left Alex Andrews blind and in a lot of pain.

Is Ramon Nieves not guilty or not?

He was charged with second-degree felony assault in October 2019, but he pleaded not guilty. Nieves was able to get a new bond on June 16 that was different from the one he got on October 9, 2019.

Nieves paid the initial bail of $100,000 (no 10 percent was allowed), but Judge Patrick Lang made her follow several rules.

He was told to stay at his current home in Cambridge and wear an ankle monitor. Also, he was told not to talk to Alex Andrews, who was the victim, at all. Nieves’s defense team also asked that he be allowed to go from his home to a hospital in Cambridge for his medical checkups.

All of the old rules, like an ankle monitor, were put into the new bond, which is $150,000 and doesn’t have a 10 percent tolerance. The earlier bond was canceled because his ankle monitor sent a tamper alarm early on June 12, 2020.

What is Ramon Nieves’ age?

In 2022, he will be 28 years old. The most recent accusations involve Nieves’ cell phone and include vandalism and changing evidence.

The search warrant for June 15, 2020, would be able to look through his phone. According to the contract, the Athens County Sheriff’s Office has “good reason” to think that “Mr. Nieves’ mobile phone contains evidence of the commission of the felony act of felonious assault.”

Maxwell Hiltner, Nieves’ lawyer in Akron, argued against the search and said it was against the Fourth Amendment, which says that searches and seizures can’t be done without a warrant.

Hiltner pointed out that the alleged attack happened more than three years ago and that there isn’t enough evidence to show that Neives’ phone still has proof of the alleged attack.
