Sam Smith's Style Through the Years, Photos
Sam Smith’s evolution as a pop artist began when they got a big breakthrough in 2012, featured on Disclosure’s breakthrough single “Latch.” When Smith released their first solo album “In the Lonely Hour” in May 2014, they found international success with the single “Stay with Me,” which reached number one in the UK and number two on the US Billboard Hot 100.
When Smith first arrived on the music scene, their style was more minimalist, with a color palette of usually black, white and gray. After coming out as genderqueer in 2017, the singer began taking more risks and becoming more adventurous with their fashion choices. Smith has gone from minimalism to wearing more colorful suits, and now they are known for their love of corsets and brightly colored oversized ballgowns.
