Dan Fruin Obituary, Huntley, IL, Beloved Resident, Has Tragically Passed Away, Tributes And Memorials – The world obits

Dan Fruin Obituary, Death –  Dan G. Fruin, 70, of Huntley died unexpectedly at Northwestern Hospital on November 28, 2023, shocking everyone. He was born May 21, 1953, in Elgin to George and Marion (Schiesher) Fruin. He married Susan Rasmusen at Huntley’s First Congregational Church on July 31, 1976. Dan worked at Zimmerman & Kahler and helped on the family farm after graduating from Huntley High School in 1971. He soon farmed dairy and crops full-time. He never stopped farming, his passion.

He served on the Board and attended the McHenry County Fair with his family. Knowing Dan meant loving him. He was honest and gave his shirt. He liked watching his grandkids when not farming. Dan liked hunting, skiing/snowmobiling, visiting friends/family, and visiting extended family in Germany. Planned to return after 1986 African safari. He was happy, outdoorsy, and could pack his bag in 10 minutes. He liked morning walks with his grandchildren.

He enjoyed pontooning, snowmobiling, watching the grandkids play, and visiting family and friends at Lake Haus whenever possible. All the food the family has received during this difficult time would have pleased him—he loved Culver’s, ice cream, and homemade jelly! He liked watching the grandkids play Pinochle, Texas Hold’em, and Kings in the Corner. He enjoyed making friends and talking to everyone. Probably easier to name strangers than friends! He was multitasking and probably mentored more than he realized. His wife, kids, grandkids, and others will miss him. I can’t believe his life is over.

He leaves Sue, three children, and seven grandchildren: Kylee, Kadeyn, Colten, Tessa, Rylie, Haylie, and Aubrey. Her siblings are Sylvia (Ron) Mueller, Robecca Fruin, Ross (Carol) Fruin, sisters-in-law Marina and Dorie Rasmusen, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. His parents Marion and George Fruin, brother Roger, nephew Grant, in-laws Hughie and Vera Rasmusen, and brothers-in-law Larry and Ron Rasmusen died in 2021 and 2022. St. John’s Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St., Union, will host the visitation from 2 to 8 PM on Thursday, December 7th, and Huntley Cemetery will hold burial from 9 AM until the 11 AM funeral service on Friday. Dan can donate to Grafton Food Pantry in Huntley. James A. O’Connor Funeral Home in Huntley helps the family. Info (847)669-5111
